Fat Pastor Productions started in 2017, when Shawn Niles, AKA The Fat Pastor, was featured as one of the top 40 home chefs in America on MasterChef Season 8 with Gordon Ramsay, Aaron Sanchez & Christina Tosi.

Shawn and his friends began working on a multi-faceted culinary business that would include a free business and culinary school for at-risk teens, an underground dining club, and high end catering. Little did they know that this effort would grow quickly, and soon they found themselves gaining major recognition in their city and around the world. In 2018, they were voted Yakima's Favorite Chef at the annual Chefs On Tour event with CWHBA. They also qualified for the World Food Championships in the burger division, and were ranked in the top 40 burgers in the entire food sport world.

They have cooked for world renowned chefs, as well as illustrious figures such as Dr. Jim Greene, the Chief Scientist of NASA. At the end of 2018, they began partnering with Cowiche Creek Brewing to bring gourmet burger events to the Yakima Valley, and are now excited to lead the charge in opening up a regional burger championship.

Growing up as third generation farmers from small towns in Central Washington, Derrick & Maria Nordberg are no strangers to hard work. In 2012 they dove head first into home brewing and then growing hops to create beers that made the flavors and aromas of hops stand out. They built their own brew house, recreated commercial processes and beers, planted hop yards, and set out to build their own style of beers that were less malt and a ton more hops.

After a couple of years of brewing dozens and dozens of batches, the brewing experiments had taken over their house. The garage, the kitchen, the mud room, three fridges, a freezer, and a makeshift cold room. They needed a bigger system and more room.

September 13, 2015 the construction began! The budget was tight. They did most of the work themselves. From Excavation to ADA grab bars, they did it all.

On October 1st 2016 they debuted their first commercial beer at the Fresh Hop Ale Festival in downtown Yakima. It was loaded with 30 lbs to the barrel with fresh hops and sold out before 9:00.

The official grand opening of Cowiche Creek Brewing took place April 15th, 2017., and the rest was proverbial history!
